Hi. I'm Kevin Ames. I created my
company, Ames Photographic Illustration, Inc. to serve corporate and advertising clients by crafting evocative photographs to communicate their ideas and to sell their products and services. I am a dreamer of visuals who fashions images to fulfill that mission--making effective photographs for my clients.

Ames Photographic Illustration is a boutique firm that concentrates on understanding exactly what the photographs are meant to do. And then to execute them on time and on budget.

When I got this whole thing going back in the latter decades of the last millenium, film was the only way to record light with a high enough resolution for reproduction on the printing press. Like many photographers of the time I longed to have the ability to manipulate my photographs to realize the images that for shortcomings in technology remained trapped in my head. I used in-camera masking, multiple-camera sets and darkroom techniques to achieve the final images. The results were very good for my

clients too. They got the photography they wanted that did the job for them on one piece of film that didn't have to go through the very expensive "system" at upwards of $750.00 an hour.
Early on I became intimately involved in digital capture and manipulation. I have worked with practically every major camera system and workflow during the ensuing years. This has made me an expert on digital capture, workflow and managing the vast quantities of data generated during a digital shoot. My expertise also led to writing the book on digital photography of women. The depth of my experience in this grand new world of digital photography and post production has proved to be invaluable to my clients.

I love making photographs. Any day using a camera to capture what I see is a perfect day for me. Photography is my passion!
